BREAKING: Biden’s Hot Take On Cuba Is Super Problematic

This week Cuban citizens have shown a rare moment of organized dissent as they have taken to the streets in the thousands to demand an end to the tyranny imposed on them by the communist Cuban government. 

What does Joe Biden say about this? He says he stands with the Cuban people seeking freedom…oh wait not from their government but from the COVID-19 pandemic.  

“We stand with the Cuban people and their clarion call for freedom and relief from the tragic grip of the pandemic and from the decades of repression and economic suffering to which they have been subjected by Cuba’s authoritarian regime,”

Excuse me, Joe, but what does this have to do with COVID-19? The decades-long oppression is not an afterthought of this uprising, it’s the entire reason for it. And it’s not an “authoritarian” regime with no name. It’s a communist regime. 

But wait there’s more. Not only was this President Biden’s statement but his administration has doubled down on their ridiculous COVID-19 rhetoric. Senior Biden State Department official, Julie Chung, said in a tweet that she stood with the Cubans and their unrest due to: “rising COVID cases/deaths & medicine shortages.” 

The Biden Administration’s insistence that Cubans are protesting over COVID-19 shutdowns as opposed to six decades of oppression under a communist regime comes as the progressive left continues to push the narrative that we should embrace communism and socialism as the right form of government for America.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden and his team are trying to roll back President Trump’s policies on Cuba which cut off funding to the communist regime in Cuba leaving only leeway for medical and humanitarian aid. Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel totally agrees with Biden and says Trump’s sanctions are why people are protesting. Sounds like Joe Biden has a great resource for policies on Cuba: the dictator himself. 

So Joe Biden’s offer to aid these Cuban protestors trying to fight for their freedom after a long 62 years of oppression is to send more money to their oppressor and lie to Americans about why they’re fighting back.
