Trump Takes a Wrecking Ball to DEI—And Instagram Is Losing Its Mind

Look, I don’t know who decided to pair the claim “DEI only existed because white people were racist” with a serene sailboat photo, but I have to admire the aesthetic. (I love boats too, just not whiney rhetoric.) That image (see above) is making the rounds on Instagram, everyone from the boss babe crew to the stay-at-home moms in my feed—ironically claiming that, yes, all white people are racist, but somehow they personally aren’t.

I have tried asking about it. “So, you’ve hired unqualified people just because they’re white?” and heard a resounding “No.” Follow-up: “Ever been hired solely because you’re white?” More “No.” But they’re convinced it’s happening everywhere.

The reality is, it’s not. And the only reason we’re even seeing this viral image is because the left loves to hate on real equality. Almost as much as they love to hate President Trump. With this kind of DEI post, they get to do both!

President Trump is upsetting them now because he’s making good on his promise to slash DEI programs. Of course, it’s sending half the internet into meltdown mode. People are mixing up DEI with the ADA (hint: they’re not the same), the Civil Rights Act (also not the same), and this weird notion that women never had jobs before HR departments started their monthly unconscious-bias seminars. (Newsflash: DEI is pretty new. Women working? Not so much.)

It’s absolutely wild to me how many are now bowing at the altar of a policy they barely knew existed last year. I’m not about to join that ritual. I won’t share any whiney posts accusing every white person on the planet of hiring each other for funsies—especially not when it’s plastered on a pretty boat photo. I love boats! But come on.

What I will do is celebrate the original concept of meritocracy—a belief our founders held that everyone gets a shot, even if we don’t all end up with the same results. That’s what Trump and his 78 million voters support, too. Let’s put that on a square with a sunset and maybe a classy yacht. Now that’s a meme I’d happily post.
