Is 60 Minutes Protecting Kamala Harris? Here’s What They Didn’t Show You

In a recent episode of 60 Minutes, Vice President Kamala Harris was questioned about the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Her answer, however, left many viewers scratching their heads. Instead of providing a clear response, Harris seemed to veer off-topic, repeating herself and giving what some described as a “word salad” response. It was a moment ripe for public scrutiny, but viewers who caught only the edited version of her answer saw something quite different.

In the broadcast, 60 Minutes replaced her comments with remarks she made on a different subject — the Ukraine war. This edit raises questions about media objectivity. Is it the role of major news outlets to clean up or reframe the words of elected officials? Some voters would argue that it’s misleading and possibly even a form of media interference in the democratic process. After all, shielding public officials from their own missteps can shape public perception.

There’s one word for what they’re doing: Propaganda.
