BREAKING: Everything You Need To Know About The Toxic Spill In Ohio
Something terrible is happening in Ohio, even if the media refuses to report it.
Here’s the scoop.
On February 5th, a freight train carrying hazardous chemicals derailed on the Ohio/Pennsylvania border, leading to a massive fire and dangerous toxins leaking into the ground.
The incident has raised concerns among residents about potential health risks and environmental damage.
Five of the derailed cars were carrying vinyl chloride, a chemical used to produce PVC pipes. Vinyl chloride is highly flammable and hazardous to human health, and exposure can lead to a range of illnesses, including respiratory problems, nausea, cancer, and even death.
The fire caused by the derailed train posed a risk of a catastrophic explosion, leading DeWine to order a mandatory evacuation so that the chemicals could be burned off in a controlled release.
The controlled release, which was conducted on February 6, involved burning the train cars and the vinyl chloride they were carrying, releasing the fumes into the atmosphere. When burned, vinyl chloride releases several hazardous compounds, including hydrogen chloride, which forms hydrochloric acid when it reacts with water vapor. This acid is highly toxic and dangerous to inhale.
Now, all of that is IN THE AIR.
Although the evacuation orders were lifted by February 8, residents have reported persistent chemical smells, dead fish in their waterways, dead chickens, and fears that the drinking water has been contaminated.
The situation has become even more troubling with the recent arrest of NewsNation correspondent Evan Lambert, who was reporting on the train derailment after the evacuation was lifted.
The arrest of Lambert has raised concerns about press restrictions and the importance of keeping the public informed about such events.
As Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene pointed out on Twitter, the situation in East Palestine, Ohio is not just a potential ecological disaster, but also a threat to press freedom.
“East Palestine, Ohio is undergoing an ecological disaster bc authorities blew up the train derailment cars carrying hazardous chemicals and press are being arrested for trying to tell the story. Oh but UFO’s!”
The public deserves to know what is happening in their community and what potential risks they may face, and it is the responsibility of the government and the media to provide this information.
