The Parade of Jerks/The Met Gala is tonight! Here is a look back on the worst people with the best outfits
The Met Gala is the most exclusive party in America and it was famously described by Tina Fey as a “jerk parade.” While everyone at the party is probably not THE WORST (I mean….one might be okay maybe. Maybe), most of them are big ~personalities~ with a lot of money and even more ego.
The Met Gala 2023 theme will be an ode to the iconic designer, Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away a couple of years ago. Considering Lagerfeld once described Heidi Klum as being too fat to be a model, he is without a doubt a perfect mascot and theme for a party of sociopathic hypocrites.
While we can’t wait to see how the body shaming, elitist, mercurial weirdo who designed beautiful clothes for Chanel and Fendi will be honored – here is a look back at some of the best, worst, and most controversial Met Gala looks through the years:
Best: Blake Lively vibing the Statue of Liberty for “In America” in 2022 (Atelier Versace)
Worst: Kendall and Kylie Jenner as the wicked stepsisters for “Camp” in 2019 (Versace)
Most stupid: Alexandria Ocasio Cortez accepting a $30,000 ticket “in protest” in 2022 (Aurora James)
Best: Rihanna inventing yellow for “China through the looking glass” in 2015 (Guo Pei)
Worst: Sarah Jessica parker as Carrie Bradshaw for “Manus x Machina” in 2016 (Monse)
Most controversial: Kim Kardashian in Marylin Monroe’s ‘Happy Birthday Mr. President’ dress for “In America” in 2022 (vintage Bob Mackie)
All time worst: Hillary Clinton in a leopard print nightmare in 2001
All time weirdest and sort of best/worst/most confounding: Jared Leto carrying his own head for “Camp” in 2019 (Gucci)
There you have it! What fresh fun/freak show will we have for the 2023 Parade of Jerks?!
